Wanted to share the exciting news.
After about three weeks of house hunting the which I will not describe in great details, my wife and I have picked the house we want and have negotiated with the seller in a series of bids and counterbids which ended tonight on an acceptable price.
She and I had liquidated our retirement funds to pay for half of the house with cash, and we will take a small mortgage to pay the other half. My father has also told us this afternoon that he would be sending us a significant check in honor of the occasion, and this will make the mortgage smaller yet.
The third bedroom is going to be my wife’s crafting space, and my wife gets $5000 leftover from the down payment funds to furnish the house properly. In exchange (and this is the exciting part), up to $5000 more of leftover funds will be spent on an outside storage shed of approximately 10 by 24 feet with a 12 foot height, with a split level and ladder, as my own crafting space. I will have approximately twice as much square footage overall even after storing my supplies on the upper level.
The one condition is that my wife no longer wants to see skunk works style interior decoration on my side of the bedroom.
Yavanna (let’s give my wife a codename too, shall we, and since she’s a natural at gardening the name fits well since I have take “Aulë” as my codename) has decreed that “if I get the entire shed, all my crap has to leave the house”. DEAL! Especially since the dining room table will no longer be piled higher and deeper with her scrapbooking material since she will have her own entire room for it!
Everyone is happy at The Valley Of Silver today!

This is great news! Have fun in your new space.
Aule! Congratulations and Well found on the workshop spacing! Do not forget the primal rule of domestication though (it can win you brownie points on the domestic-front!) … Make a space for your daughter there as well! Nurture her creativity- and give her an expressive corner! Of course- this only works in certain situations, batteries not included, your mileage may vary… but whatever else… dont stop your mind and your creativity!
