International Pearl Design Contest – Winners Announced

The Cultured Pearl Association of America announces 
Winners of the 2012-2013 IPDC, International Pearl Design Contest
Ocean Lullaby

Francis Mastoloni, President of the Cultured Pearl Association of America, Inc. proudly announces the winners of CPAA’S 2012-2013 International Design competition. “We are very happy with the success of this year’s competition, entries from 13 countries we received” Mr. Mastoloni reported.

                             
President’s Trophy: 

 the highest honor awarded to a design that unanimously captivated judges as the best of the best.

“Ocean Lullaby” 
Evelyn Huang of Los Angeles, California

Luster Award

Luster Award: 

given to the entry that is judged “most marketable” of all the entries in the competition. This design will have the most overall appeal for the retail marketplace.

“Black Ice Fleurette Earrings” 
Mastoloni of New York, New York

Brilliance Award (photo above): 

given to the entry that best illustrates the spectrum of pearl colors in the most beautiful way.

“Ocean Lullaby” 
Evelyn Huang of Los Angeles, California



Designer’s Award  Tie: 


 given to the entry that takes pearls to the far corners of the imagination and beyond.

“Bathing in the Moon”
Chi Huynh, Galatea: Jewelry by Artist of San Dimas, California


“Ying-Yang” 
Jorge Adeler, 
Adeler Jewelers of Great Falls, Virginia








Orient Award  Tie: 

the award given to the entry that would inspire a new found affinity in someone for cultured pearls.


“X Pearl” 
Geoffrey Middle 
Phetchaburi, Thailand






“Contempo” 
Mark Schneider 
Long Beach, California


The Visionary Award:

…the entry that re-defines the iconic pearl strand and shifts the perception of cultured pearls for today’s buyer.

“Heart of the Moon” 
Anita Dickey 
Dallas, Texas

The Fashion Award:

Fun, fresh, modern. A design which looks as if it came straight from the Paris runway.

“Tahitian Nights” 
Maggie Davidson 
Edmonds, Washington

Wedding Day Pearls – Tie:

Brides and pearls are synonymous.  Create a “fantasy wedding” theme with pearls.

“Medusa Earrings” 
Katey Brunini,

“Embrace” 
Nuttapon Yongkiettakul of Bangkok, Thailand
Commendations were also given to 22 entries which demonstrated high standards of achievement, in accordance with the judging criteria.

This 2012-2013 edition of the IPDC was truly International in scope. Entries from thirteen countries were received.
