I would like to let you all know that there is a possibility of having Ford Hallam conduct a class at Genevieve Flynn Studio, in Kansas City, MO. It would be offered either the week of November 11 for six days from 9-5pm or November 18 for six days from 9-5pm.

For those of you not familiar with Ford Hallam here is a small bit of information for you

Ford Hallam holds a unique position in the world of fine art metalwork. He is the only non-native artist to have been adopted into Japan’s ancient decorative metalworking tradition. Having dedicated himself to the mastery of its techniques and materials he is widely acknowledged as the leading Western authority on the technical aspects of this work.

It would be a 6 day introductory course. $1250 for the week plus $300.00 for materials. He will cover the basics of chisel use and carving, inlay and touch on patination. And as with all of Ford’s teaching you would be dealing with aspects of the aesthetics of the work and developing good working technique and skills.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are truly interested in this class. It will require a deposit of $600.00. If the class does not make I will refund your deposit.  My email is genevieve@genevieveflynn.com

Please pass this information along to those that might be of interest. It is a great opportunity to study under such a master craftsman.

If the dates above do not work for you Ford will be in the United States teaching a 4 week course October 1-28, 2013 and a 6 day course November 4-9, 2013 in New Hampshire.  Contact Ford Hallam directly on these dates.
