I agree with the first comment, it would have been good if our tutors we have paid thousands of pounds to, could have been a bit more helpful, I have learnt more from the internet and books in the year I have been finished my Uni course

good tips i wish when i was learning the teachers would have menthioned that way for soldering

Set up your shank with the third arm, making contact FIRST. Then, use some flux. All the books recommend using plenty of flux but if there is so much you can’t see what you are doing, you have overdone. I hope this helps.

Damn! I wish I had seen that a few days ago. Stupid ring shanks keep floating on the flux! How can you stop THAT from happening too?
