This very unique necklace is made of alternating tumbled aquamarine nuggets and textured sterling silver circle links. The aquamarine stones vary quite a bit in size and shape; the larger stones are in the front. The aquamarine is so gorgeous! It is a translucent aqua blue. The links in the front of the necklace measure 18mm in diameter, and the links further back measure 14mm. The necklace measures 26 inches (66cm) in length and closes with a sterling silver lobster clasp.
Aquamarine is March's birthstone. It is a blue variety of the mineral beryl (emerald is the green variety of beryl).
About sterling silver:
Sterling silver is an alloy consisting of a minimum of 92.5% silver (the other 7.5% is typically copper). I choose to use solid sterling instead of plated metal in my work because it is my experience that plating wears off. Properly cared for sterling silver lasts a lifetime and beyond.
