IN-DEPTH Design Development – Concept to Completion

Our 5 day workshop retreat focuses on the investigation of design and execution as a holistic creative exploration. We examine the entire process of developing and creating a suite of wearable jewelry with cohesive recognizable identity.

Beginning with seed ideas from sketches and drawings, participants undertake a process of evolving their designs using 3D construction through a series of models, maquettes and prototypes. The fruition of the seed idea will be expressed in a finished suite of completed jewelry.

Participants harness the principles of design as an underlying unifying current by creating an individual design vocabulary that can be combined into a variety of jewelry items for dynamic expression through repetitive series. Through concentration on the evolution of design content that emanates from in-depth exploration of technique, we identify lasting resources for quality and individuality in our work. In addition to designing the basis for a suite of jewelry we will aspire to a deeper understanding of the relationship between technique and process as a foundation for future design and expression.

The ultimate goal of the In-Depth experience is to emerge with prototypical models for a series of well-developed original work that is both wearable and marketable.

This looks great. Have done two workshops with you in Toronto…need more!…want more !

Difficult to make plans a year ahead but you are almost full…what would the deposit be? I am wondering if is it something I could afford to lose if things did not work out.

Hi Michael,
I think your in-depth retreat would benefit me a lot, I will let you know very soon if I can make it.
I’ve dropped my bench time since december and I’m slowly recovering from the “I don’t know anymore syndrome”. My moving and moving-back thing distracted me a little and drained all of my studio energy. I’ve been procrastinating so much, it’s insane. But I’ve learned a lot about me through this weird time and that is all good.
Hope to see you soon,
Ivanne
