Studio Workshops

Here is a look inside my goldsmithing studio, which serves a dual purpose. In addition to my professional workspace this studio is also a classroom for private instruction, individual consultation, and intimate group workshops.

I have occasional in-studio workshops as my schedule permits.  These intimate sessions run from 2 day weekend events to 5 day retreats for up to 5 participants in my professional environment.  The studio is minimalist and adequate with 275 square feet of floor space.  6 people can work simultaneously and comfortably in this setting, overlooking the garden, lounge, and the covered outdoor cooking and dining area of my wife’s culinary school.

My side by side working and demo benches are fronted by a half wall.

These are my 2 benches.

The 4 student benches are built as a free standing modular tandem unit with an anvil at one end.

Comfortable working space for 4 students.

The central anvil is at a standing working height.

Hammers and mandrels storage on the end of one bench.

A vented hot work station with a selection of 4 torches is in one corner.

Melting and pouring ingots, annealing and soldering area.

Milling, drawing, forming and grinding equipment.

Draw bench and rolling mill tables are together along one wall.
