    Kathy, The hardness of your pretty pink stone is 6-7.  As some may not
    know, it's a variety of the mineral zoisite--the better known variety
    being tanzanite, which I always thought should be called "heat-treated
    brown zoisite," which nearly all of it has been. Another beautiful
    variety is "ruby in zoisite," in which the rubies contrast with a
    beautiful green zoisite.  But then, I'm sure you knew all this.
