Time Step: Ornamented Enamel Work
0
Antique, Gothic, Baroque - at the end of the 19th century, in the age of Historism, a number of different styles existed in parallel. This masterpiece, attributed to Giacinto Melillo, contains stylistic references to the Renaissance, in particular. This era was characterized by an extraordinary wealth of colors, making their first appearance in these lush quantities on finely ornamented enamel work.
Necklace, "Colorchain", by Herman Hermsen, 2002. Formica, synthetic stones, silver, steel cable
Necklace, attributed to Giacinto Mellilo, Napoli, appr. 1870/80. Gold, enamel. Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim
Sky blue, lemon yellow or emerald green - Why choose one? Boldly luminescent, the powerful colors on this necklace by Herman Hermsen assault the retina. The synthetic gems protrude from the lasered Formica like candy. In the age of technical reproduction, jewelry can be anything - but not boring.
